Food Intolerance Testing
What is a food intolerance?
Having a food intolerance means that you have difficulty digesting certain foods and may have an unpleasant reaction to them.
This is caused by the body seeing the food as an invader, so it attacks them using antibodies. It's this that causes the common symptoms of IBS, headaches, weight gain, and inflammation.
An intolerance can have a negative impact on daily life, but unlike allergies, they aren't life threatening.
โ
They are becoming increasingly common, with Allergy UK estimating that 45% of the population believe they have an intolerance.
How do I know if I have an intolerance?
The most common symptoms of food intolerances are stomach pain, bloating, wind, and diarrhoea within a few hours of eating the food.
Some people also experience a skin rash and itching.
However, as these are quite general symptoms typical of a wide variety of conditions, experiencing them doesn't confirm a food intolerance.
โ
The only way to know for certain is to be tested.
What does the test involve?
YorkTest offer hospital standard laboratory tests that measure food-specific IgG antibodies known as food intolerances.
โ
Their food-specific IgG method has had more scientific papers published about its performance than any other intolerance test on the market.
โ
The test involves taking a small blood sample using the finger prick method. The sample is sent to the lab for analysis and results usually come back within 10 working days.
โ
I'll then contact you to arrange a follow-up appointment.

A YorkTest intolerance test is £135
