Colonic Hydrotherapy

What is colonic hydrotherapy?

Colonic hydrotherapy, also known as colonic irrigation, is a safe and effective method of cleansing the colon.

It uses repeated gentle flushing with warm filtered water under very low pressure, and specialised massage techniques on the tummy area to stimulate release of toxic waste.

Your colon is designed to eliminate waste from the body, but poor diet, improper food combining, and prescription drugs can impair its ability to function properly.

This is where colonic hydrotherapy comes in. Please read my FAQs to find out more information about the treatment.

Benefits of colonic hydrotherapy

Colonic hydrotherapy is a very quick and effective way to totally detoxify the colon from all the toxic waste that builds up over time.

In turn, it offers many benefits including:

- Improved bowel function
- Aids weight loss
- Clearer skin
- More mental clarity
- Fewer headaches
- Improved circulation
- Strengthened immune system
- Ability to absorb more essential vitamins and minerals

- Restores pH balance

- Provides a favourable environment for friendly bacteria.

What is the procedure?

During a treatment, water is gently introduced into the colon via the rectum with special massage techniques.

The water begins to soften and cleanses the colon of faecal matter and old deposits. As you wear a gown, your modesty is preserved at all times.

You will be given a probiotic (friendly bacteria) after your treatment.

You can choose to add on a coffee enema, herbal infusion, or parasite cleanse.

Frequently asked questions

Colonic Hydrotherapy

What is colonic hydrotherapy?

Colonic hydrotherapy (also known as colonic irrigation or colon cleansing) is a way to clean the bowel of toxic waste. Although your colon is designed to naturally eliminate waste from the body, the current Western diet, can impair its ability to function properly. This treatment helps rid the colon of old and impacted waste, reducing the toxic load on the body and restoring gut health.

Does colonic hydrotherapy hurt?

No. It's quite common for people to feel like they need to go to the toilet, but it's not at all painful. The speculum is only inserted around an inch into the rectum and is smaller than any waste you excrete. In fact, once they're used to the treatment, many people find colonics very relaxing.

Does colonic hydrotherapy smell?

No. I use a completely sealed system, so there are no odours whatsoever.

Is colonic hydrotherapy safe?

Yes! Modern advances in technology, equipment, and training mean that colonic hydrotherapy is completely safe. The equipment maintains the water temperature and pressure within safe limits and I use single use, disposable speculums to adhere to the strictest hygiene standards.

How many treatments do I need?

There's no minimum requirement and you may just book in for a single colonic. However, I generally suggest a course of three colonics over three weeks to start off. If you wish to continue with regular treatments, I recommend once every three months.

Can I have a colonic on my period?

Yes. Being on your period does not have any impact on the treatment, so as long as you're comfortable, it's absolutely fine. However, I do recommend bringing a spare tampon or sanitary towel for after the treatment.

Can having a colonic help me lose weight?

Colonic hydrotherapy isn't a weight loss treatment, but it's quite common for people to feel lighter and lose a few pounds. This is down to the amount of waste that is cleansed from the colon, rather than fat or cellulite.

Is it embarrassing?

No, not at all. I try my very best to make sure my clients are as comfortable as possible from the moment they enquire, when arriving at the appointment, during the procedure, and afterwards. I provide a screen for you to change into a gown and there is an en suite toilet for your convenience. Your modesty and confidentiality is maintained at all times.

What happens during the appointment?

Once you've changed into the treatment gown, you'll be asked to lie down on your side while I insert the speculum. Filtered water is then introduced under gentle gravitational pressure through the rectum into the colon. A combination of the water and massage techniques, cleanses the colon of faecal matter and old deposits, which are disposed of with the waste water. At the end of the treatment, you'll be given a probiotic (friendly bacteria) and asked to go into the en suite toilet to ensure your colon is empty.

Herbal Implants

What is a herbal implant?

A herbal implant is a type of enema. Herbs are mixed with water to create an infusion, which is taken rectally and travels into the liver and bloodstream.

What herbs do you work with?

I will use a blend of any of the following herbs, depending on whether there is a specific issue you would like treating: Liquorice root Fennel Chamomile Peppermint Raspberry leaf Senna pod Dandelion root Artichoke

What's the difference between an enema and colonic hydrotherapy?

Although both procedures aim to cleanse the colon with water, there are some key differences. With an enema, the water is held in the rectum and only works on the lower colon, whereas with a colonic, the water is flushed through the entire colon.

What are the benefits of enemas?

Perhaps most obviously, relief from stomach and digestive issues, such as constipation, gas, and cramps. However, more surprisingly, enemas can also be effective treatment for yeast infections, skin problems, fatigure, headaches, colitis, and much more.

Do you only do coffee enemas?

Coffee enemas are the most popular type of enema, but I do offer others. If you'd like to know more, please email sarahchadda@hotmail.co.uk or call 07966 137 539.
